History of Mental health awareness month 

The Mental Health America Organization, created by Clifford Whittingham Beers, first commemorated mental health awareness month in 1949. 

One of the five youngsters suffering from mental illness was Beers. All of them were admitted to mental facilities for treatment, where Beers discovered the abuses perpetrated in the name of mental health therapy.  

He went on to write ‘A Mind That Found Itself,’ which is still one of the best-selling books today. He ensured that the patients not only received hygienic mental health treatment, but also that they did not feel alone in their fight against mental disease. 

Slowly, but steadily, the journey continued in several organizations till now.  

Organizations use this as an opportunity to train their staff about mental health awareness and how to improve it. 

What can you do to improve your mental health? 

  • Talk about your feelings: 
  • Talking about your feelings isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s a sign of self-care. If something bothers you, it’s easier to let it out than to carry the weight on your shoulders. When talking about your sentiments is difficult, a word or a collection can help you get your point over. 

  • Keep active: 
  • Maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle is another simple way to promote mental health.  Several studies have shown that staying active causes your mind to create chemicals that keep you joyful and stress-free. 

  • Eat well: 
  • Although it is quite simple, the majority of people choose to avoid it! To stay healthy and function properly, your brain needs a specific set of nutrients. What you ingest, whether it’s food or thoughts, eventually becomes your mind. Make sure they’re in good health. 

  • Keep in touch: 
  • Keeping in touch with family and friends can be quite beneficial in coping with life’s stresses.  

    You can obtain a new viewpoint that will help you come up with a better solution or learn more. Meeting in person is not always possible, consider calling or pinging them anytime you feel the need to better your mental health. 

  • Ask for help! 
  • If you ever feel overwhelmed and unable to deal with problems on your own.  

    It is preferable to seek assistance from those that you believe can assist you. It could be your family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, or anybody else with whom you feel at ease. 

    What can an organization do for your mental health? 

    It is the obligation of a company, as well as people, to assist employees in maintaining good mental health.  

    Let’s look at how an organization could be able to assist you with mental health and sickness.  

  • Make sure your employees know it’s a safe environment for them to discuss: 
  • Managers, company leaders, or executives should establish the appropriate tone.  They should teach their staff that they may confide in them if they are having difficulties. The first steps should be taken by the management, followed by employees.  

  • Employee assistant program: 
  • Organizations might offer their staff free consultations or supply them with specific courses. It will assist them as well as increase employee and management credibility and trust. 

  • Recognize the Worklife balance
  • As an employer, you must be aware of your employees’ requirements and establish a work-life balance for them. It’s critical to provide personal space for your employee’s family, friends, or just himself.  

  • Offer flexibility
  • Many companies allow employees to work from home in the event of a medical emergency.  

    Similarly, it is critical for businesses to recognize the importance of providing employees with space and flexibility if they are experiencing mental difficulties. 

    What organizations can do to make the process easy? 

    It can be difficult for an employee to open up about his or her problems in front of the entire team. Employees can profit from online initiatives while still retaining their privacy.

  • Organizations can include a variety of courses in their curriculum that anybody can access at any time. Employees can enroll in the course whenever they want to improve their mental health.  

  • Access to unlimited resources:
